Rail-Yard Run is the first level of Yoshi's Crafted World, and the only level of Sunshine Station. As with previous first levels in the Yoshi franchise, the level introduces and teaches the player the basic mechanics of the game, including the Flutter Jump and making and throwing eggs. Rail-Yard Run was made playable as the sole level for the game's demo, released on February 13, 2019, more than one month prior to the final game's release.
Overview[edit]Front side[edit]Upon starting the level, a roll of paper rolls out along the path in front of Yoshi. A steam train emerges from a tunnel in the background, and eventually enters another tunnel. After a set of three coins at the path's starting point, there are two more sets formed in an arch above two Shy Guys, directing the player to jump over them. More series of coins lead Yoshi over a small hill and back down to lower ground, where a Piranha Plant lies beneath a semisolid platform. Next to the Piranha Plant is a wide, hollow platform containing several coins, including three Red Coins. Above the platform is a Message Block, which teaches the player the Flutter Jump. Using it, Yoshi can collect a trail of coins to the right, which ends with a 10 Coin. Proceeding forward, there is a Piranha Plant with three Red Coins above it underneath a Semisolid Platform; Yoshi can use the Flutter Jump to collect another similarly formed trail of coins that leads to the platform to avoid it entirely. The path eventually splits into two paths: one short one leading to a dead end with two coins and a 10 Coin above an idle Shy Guy, and another path that leads to the background and over a bridge. As soon as Yoshi takes the latter, the train emerges from the tunnel and passes under the bridge. After crossing the bridge, a Message Block teaches the player how to create eggs from enemies, with a Warp Pipe dispensing Shy Guys located nearby. Another Message Block after the pipe teaches the player how to aim and throw eggs; next to it is a diagonal trail of coins leading to a Winged Cloud hovering above a Piranha Plant. When hit, the Winged Cloud creates a staircase leading to higher ground. At the top, there is a hidden Winged Cloud above a pair of coins containing five hearts. The path eventually leads back to the main plane, where another Message Block explains the ability to throw eggs into the background and foreground, which Yoshi can use in a nearby plain to obtain coins and hit different parts of the scenery and a Present Box containing several coins, including a red one. An Egg Block is also located nearby, as well as a Shy Guy in the foreground holding a Red Coin, which Yoshi can collect by throwing an egg at it. Past the Egg Block, there is a level crossing and a building atop an arch structure over a canyon on the other side. Throwing an egg at the building creates a bridge, allowing Yoshi to cross the canyon and reach the checkpoint. As soon as the bridge forms, the train passes under it and comes to a stop past the checkpoint. Yoshi in the neighborhood When Yoshi reaches the train, Kamek and Baby Bowser arrive and disassemble the locomotive into three parts – the cab, main engine, and wheel – and scatter them across the nearby area. The area is a neighborhood with many buildings, coins, Winged Clouds, and Shy Guys, surrounded by two paths split from the main path that later converge, forming a loop. The cab is located on top of the rightmost building on the back path, which is reached via a staircase created by the Winged Cloud in front of it; the engine is located inside the house at the end of the front path, which becomes obtainable after hitting and opening the house with an egg; and the wheel is found inside an open house at the beginning of the front path, which is obtained by throwing an egg at it. When a part is collected, it is treated similar to an egg and follows Yoshi; he can then reattach it to the train by pressing in front of it and throwing it at it. Once the locomotive is fully reassembled, the train becomes active. Yoshi can then ride on the train, which transports him through the neighborhood and the level crossing into the background, and eventually stops at the path leading to the goal. Flip side[edit]When Yoshi jumps back onto the train, it travels much faster than before back to the previous stop. The first Poochy Pup runs along the right side of the neighborhood. When Yoshi reaches the Egg Block past the level crossing, the black Poochy Pup can be seen running back and forth between two bushes in the background. A nearby Message Block explains that an egg can be thrown at a Poochy Pup to collect it; Yoshi must do this to collect the black one. The pink and final Poochy Pup hides inside the hollow platform (revealed in the flip side to be three boxes stuck together, two of which are labeled 'Jelly Beans'). In the demo, the level flips around after passing the goal. The Poochy Pups are revealed as they run alongside one another. If Yoshi chooses to search for them, a Message Block appears in front of the goal that explains how to collect them. Collectibles[edit]Smiley Flowers[edit]
Three more Smiley Flowers are awarded for collecting at least 100 coins in the level, completing the level with 20 hearts, and collecting all 20 Red Coins. In the flip side, three are awarded for bringing all three Poochy Pups to the goal, and one more for doing so within two minutes and 30 seconds. Crafts[edit]A Blockafeller requests Yoshi to find cows for him as souvenirs, which are found in the background of Rail-Yard Run's front side:

Easter eggs[edit]The level's flip side reveals the labels and backsides of the handcrafted environment and buildings, some of which hold Easter eggs. Behind the tallest building in the neighborhood, it is shown that the box used for the second-highest room is from a brand named 'Yo'ster Cookies,' a reference to the original Japanese name for Yoshi's Island, 'Yo'ster Island.' Another box of the same brand is used for the hill next to the Winged Cloud staircase. Near the checkpoint is a carton labeled 'Moo Moo Meadows Milk,' a sponsor from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which is in turn derived from Moo Moo Meadows in Mario Kart Wii. On the bridge, there is a green sticker labeled 'HANDLE WITH CARE' that depicts two hands holding a ? Block, which originally appeared in Sunshine Airport. A ? Block also appears in chocolate form on a box labeled 'Caramel Blocks,' used for the small hill next to the wide, hollow platform.
